Gap Year: A Must Read for Graduating Seniors!

NNYM - March 20, 2023

The transition between high school and college is a crucial one. As a youth pastor or leader, you have been investing in your student's lives for several years and you probably have seniors who are headed off to college or off to something new. We encourage you to give some thought to helping make this a smooth transition.

One thing you can do is invite them to start an account on www.everystudentsent.org. They'll be able to find the campus they'll be attending that fall and connect with a campus ministry there. They can even begin connecting with other Christian students before getting to the campus. They can also begin praying for the school they'll be attending by going to www.everycampus.com.

If you have students who are not sure about college or what to do next in general there is another option. What if we told you they could continue to be challenged in their faith and be discipled for a year before heading to college?

CRU offers something called the Cru Gap Year which is a great next opportunity to see this happen!  It is a year for students to build a stronger spiritual foundation before going to college. At the same time, they become part of making an impact in the world by going to the nations and sharing the Gospel with others.

Many students don't know that opportunities like this exist. Here's a video that you can share to see if God is calling any of your students to go!  If so, have them apply today at cru.org/gapyear.

Whatever happens, we encourage you to talk with your students BEFORE they graduate to help them discern what are the best next steps for them to help their faith remain strong through that transition process.
